The University Choir of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata was the first artistic ensemble, originated in the concern of students and is the first of its kind in Argentina. His debut was the September 19, 1942 under the direction of Rodolfo Kubik master.
His motto is "Friends of Music" and momentum since its inception the development of other university choirs. In 1959 he organized the First La Plata University Choirs Festival, starting a tradition that continues to the present (year 2005).
His repertoire includes classical works of the sixteenth century religious music, popular Argentine folk music and contemporary (works by composers such as Carlos Guastavino, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Astor Piazzolla, Blazquez Eladia), Latin American music and black spirituals.
Among his international tours highlighted a series of concerts in cities on the East Coast of the United States in 1965, where he was invited to the opening of Lincoln Center in New York, a tour of European cities in 1970 (with performances in Rome, Paris , Munich, Vienna and Frankfurt), participation in 1995 in the "Festival Internacional de Musica de Cantinogros" in Spain and "Rinascimenti Urbino, Italy, and in 2000 participated in the International Festival of Choral Music" America Cantat III "in Caracas. Its current director is Mtro. Luis Clemente.
The Youth Choir was established in September 1983, composed of young start-coral during high school. He has participated in prestigious events and festivals, touring Brazil, Ecuador, Spain and Italy. In 1994 he obtained the First Prize at Musica Corel Bonaerenses in the youth tournament in 1995 and a First Prize in the II th International Choir Contest in the city of Trelew. His repertoire includes classical music and popular music of Argentina. Its current director is Mtro. Paul Canavos.
The Chamber Choir was founded in 1985. Its objectives are to complement the soloists or instrumental ensembles, the musical approach of the literature of the twentieth century and the preparation for professional music and young people who aspire to sing in a professional manner. Its current director is Mtro. Roberto Ruiz.
